The concept of Blind Likes

Hi everyone.

I hope all are doing great and enjoying their blogging journey. Well, today I’m gonna discuss a thing related to blogging and bloggers. I titled this thing as “Blind Likes”.

How many of you believe that the concept of Blind Likes exists?…….

I think a lot of people. For those who still don’t know what I am talking about is that I am talking about the blind likes you receive on your posts which are dropped by the readers who do not actually read your posts but to get your attention they do so.

I receive so many. I mean 8 or 9 likes out of 10 are fake on average. Probably you too.

BUUTTT,

WHO DO THIS & WHY DO THIS?????????……… 😣

We… πŸ™‹πŸ™‹

THAT’S RIGHT. πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘. YOU DO THIS…..YOU πŸ™…

WHO IS READING THIS…..

Okay, keeping it normal.

Yeah, we do this. The bloggers. But not all. But most of. Serious readers actually read the posts then like and comment. But the bloggers who are actually here to build a website and planning for monetization in future, normally do this.

WHY?? 😟😟

Do you agree that we all are busy in our lives??…

Maybe yes. So the bloggers who are planning to earn something from blogging do not have enough time as they not only handle their blog, they also have a lot of other stuff to do including home affairs, Studies, jobs, routine etc. They read very few posts seriously. So they use the blind likes to get people’s attention and follow maximum websites as much as they can. They also have to comment on the others’ posts. They have to search for different-different ideas. Blah Blah Blah!!!!… 😱😱

It’s normal actually. When I started this blog. After writing two or three posts, I realized quickly that this concept exists. I mean people are just want to increase the traffic. Nobody is reading what we post. But later I found some serious readers on my blog so I kept myself on the track. Then I decided that someday I will write a post on this. So here I am today!! πŸ˜„πŸ˜„

Sometimes, serious readers also use this as they also want to reach the bigger audience. So it’s absolutely okay in my opinion.

The question is, Is this concept good or bad?

What do you think??

Let me know please in the comments.

I know I will receive Blind Likes on this post too. So here’s a thing you have to follow:

PLEASE DO NOT LIKE THIS POST. JUST COMMENT. OR I WILL CONSIDER THAT YOU BLINDLY LIKED MY POST πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰. If you don’t wanna comment, just simply read and leave. Okay!!?…

Let’s see how many Blind Likes I have got.

And I will let you know in the next post that how much I received πŸ˜‹.

Okay, so give your opinion.

Good luck πŸ‘

  1. Good evening dear,

very nicely express the truth of blogging . There are people who really read the blogs of others , but sometimes it happens, i can understand you well.
Nice to know you , Have a nice day dear.

  2. It doesn’t really bother me whether those who click like really like my posts or not. It’s good if they really read it first before hitting like but it’s no big deal if they didn’t. I don’t write to get likes anyway.

  3. Just out of habit, I READ your post then hit like! Then remembered you said don’t press like! So went back and unlike! And finally left you this message! It’s 1am & I’m bed unable to sleep but really tired so excuse the confusion… But I do read posts! πŸ˜ƒ

  4. It’s my first experience with blogging. In addition, my english is not so good. That is why I prefer to read and send an asterisk.

    All the best to you

PS: It would be great if someone could tell me why there are two followers in my community widget (pure ads and bad words) that I can not delete with the blog functions because those followers are not shown in the followers list.

  5. It is true that quite a lot of people just like and not really read the whole post. That I believe is never good. Not for the one writing the post and the person just fleeing after leaving a like. As a writer, more likes does boost confidence but at the same time, one needs to know how good or bad one is writing and comments do help. Like I have mentioned, the ones who just like when a post appears on the feed do not actually read, because if they did, they would be compelled to say something.

I said that it is not good for the one who just likes and goes away. The person might be trying to save the posts for future reading but as a writer who writes a post, it does feel like this person never even read the post. And why visit someone’s blog who just leaves a like on the post.

    1. You got this absolutely right…..
Indeed, there are two things going simultaneously…..
Likes boost the confidence but likes don’t tell how good and bad the writing is. It can only be known with Interaction…
People leave the like just to create traffic on their own blog…..Many bloggers Like 7-8 post within 1 minute in order to send more and more notifications to the targeted blogger, so he check out their profiles…..
Thanks a lot for sharing your opinion on this post.
      I really appreciate your support…πŸ˜„πŸ˜„πŸ™ŒπŸ™Œβ€

  6. It’s real and It’s not that good if we, as bloggers, use the likes as a way to see what gets people’s attention and what not. But it can also be a nice thing if it boosts that creator’s confidence.

  7. I agree with you that there are many blind likes, as like for like, like because of others like it and so on. We are indeed busy with our lives and we can’t spend all day on the internet, but we could make a selection. When I comment someone’s blog it means I read this. if it is enough interesting to me, I will comment. And I like this term, blind like. I have it too, that is why I appreciate every comment.

  8. Fifty nine likes! You’re killing it Dumberboy!
The thing that makes me sad is that I have psychological and emotional health problems. Big problems. And I often have insurmountable troubles which make basic communication very problematic.
I often simply cannot comment or talk very much. (writing comments and talking are much the same thing.) Might sound strange but it is true. I can talk today, but most days I cannot no matter how much I want to. I rely on likes when I cannot speak, but people think I am being disingenuous because they are used to blind likes.
My quiet voice is lost among the clamor of phony likes and I am silenced.
But what disappoints me more is fake follows. I hit 500 followers last night, and although I see this has meaning to many other bloggers, to me it means nothing. Far too many follow without even so much as looking. Do they not know that I have the same stats tools as they? Do they think I am blind or stupid?
A funny thing which makes me feel better is that many times the fake followers are Christians or scripture focused bloggers. If they bothered to look they would know that they are following a blog which often posts satanic content and sometimes smutty kinky fiction.
I think if they looked, they would unfollow again right quick. I do not remove them or tell them what they have done, I think it’s funny to just let them stay.

    1. That’s a really strange problem you have!….
      And it’s a big one….
But why it is?….. Can you please explain?..
For blogging part, it’s a part of it. You can find every type of blogger here….
Some only love stats. Some only like to read. Some only write…. So on….

  10. I guess this concept is true – I’ve experienced someone liking ten posts in less than 10 seconds. How could that happen? So, I think some just wants to grab your attention and have you read their blog or follow them. If I like something, that means I’ve read it. Sometimes I leave a comment, sometimes I don’t. But, if you ever receive a like from me……that means I really do like it!

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Yeah….
I have also received many likes within seconds many times. The reason is that If someone likes your 10 posts, you will receive 10 notifications. Thus your phone will blink 10 times. Nd you will definitely check out who’s this guy ?…!…
Nd the chances are you will definitely follow him/her because he liked your many posts……
It’s Great to hear that you read the posts with full attention. It means you love to read what people write nd want to connect with them……
      I really liked it…..
Nd that’s why I didn’t receive the like on this post from you. πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰πŸ˜….

One thing I really liked you said that the titles attract so much…..and that’s really true. For instance, If the title starts from “How to” , I never read that post. If I read, I only go through the post not with full attention. Because the title is boring itself, so the post is. But If the title is really different and catchy as you said, I definitely give my 100% attention to the post and comment on it.
I think most people title their posts “how to……..” because we type how to on Google. That’s why their content come close to the first page.
Yeah, obviously it is sometimes disheartening. But it’s okay. Everything can’t be 100% perfect.
As you commented here on this post, It gives me so much happiness that wow!!.. Someone actually read what I wrote and moreover commented. It is EVERYTHING for the writer……
I’m really grateful for the people like you who actually read the content and comment on my posts……
Thank you so much for giving your views on this topic…..

  14. I leave likes on posts I have read because sometimes I don’t have anything to say other than “great poem/story” or “I really liked such-and-such part”. I’m trying to get better at commenting. I probably should look up pointers on how to leave constructive feedback.
The most irritating thing that I’ve experienced in blogging happened when I posted a longer short story (~1,500-2,000 words) and received a “like” 5 seconds after I hit the publish button. You don’t expect me to believe that person actually read that piece? And if they did, I want to know what speed-reading class they took. Seriously. Sign me up. I could get so much more reading done.
Thank you for starting this discussion. Blind liking will probably never go away but sometimes making people conscious off it can change how they respond to pieces.

    1. First of all, I want to give you a tip to improve your commenting….
Look dear, when you start to read any post, make sure there’s no disturbance around you. Then give your full attention to the post what the writer is saying. Then try to relate this to your own life/experience or mind. Involve yourself completely with the post and after reading the post, don’t do any haste in commenting. Take some time. Think again about the post. Then magically, your comment automatically will come in your head, then you only need to type it in the comments section. And for sure, your comment will be much effective. β€β€πŸ™‚πŸ™‚
I experienced this too. I mean within 2 minutes of publishing, sometimes I get two or three likes. I don’t know where they took the reading classes…πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ lol….
They do just to get the attention or tells Indirectly, “Hey, I have also a blog on WordPress…πŸ™‹”
Well, I’m thankful for my Cracking mind to start this discussion.πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚….
Thank you so much for sharing your experience here and giving your time to read this post… ❀❀

  15. blogging world gave us the opportunity to express ourselves…if we like our content to be read, appreciated and liked….we have to do the same to others…cuz it hurts when you come to know your post is just liked…not read or not conveyed what you wanted to convey…

  16. I do the blind likes but I think it boils down to personal prefrence and interest. Most of the times I like a post before I even click to read because the title is catchy and I’m like “hmm that’s crafty or funny or creative- like” If it is really interesting I click, read and comment. Sometimes there are catchy titles but when I begin reading the post it doesn’t keep my interest so I don’t continue reading. I have my own interests and if posts appeal to that I almost always read and comment. This is a great post by the way… something I’ve been pondering lately, It is disheartening sometimes when I see all these likes and follows without an actual comment… as humans beings as much as we try to fight it, we inherently seek validation from others. We are writing for ourselves yes, but we can do that in a private diary right? But we are here on wordpress because we want people to read and like what we write if that makes any sense. I love it when people interact with my blog and share their own experices about what ever topic I’m discussing.

  17. Hello, I thnk it’s an interesting aspect of yours and also of human behaviour. My personal opinion is that there will always be blind likes in the interaction between humans. And not only at our blogposts, but in real life too. People say hi with a smile or listen with half a ear and say that your idea is good, but you know that they don’t know you and haven’t listened to what you relaly want to say. When you meet someone at the street and they say “Hi, how are you?” and then doesn’ want to hear how you’re actually are doing is also a kind of blind like.
But are they bad people? No. Some maybe, but not all. They are stressed, unsecure or busy or simply not interested but still want to be polite.
Sometimes, when I’ve been very busy, I put a blnd like to my known folloers post, if I’ve been away and missed many. Not because I don’t care about what they write, just because to show I value their work and then I can go back and read more carefuly when I have time. Because as a writer, we need appreciation. Thank you for a thoughtful and interesting post.

    2. This is the perfect analogy. You are so right with that and really it is not about being good or bad it’s life I guess… I remember once I was walking along a road in my own head and someone Hollered at me to get my attention they asked me why I was passing them without saying hi. This was a friend and though I was looking at them my mind was else where and I didn’t see them… so essentially they snapped me out of my trance if you will and brought me back to reality… hahah I told them “I’m sorry my mind wasn’t there and I really didn’t notice you…”

  18. It’s a tough question, with no black or white answer.

Personally I get quite upset when I see a blink like – especially when it’s on a topic I was very excited to write about – but at the same time, I notice that as I start to get more likes on a post, it gets more attention, because some readers require a certain level of promise that a post will be good, before they even read it.

Additionally, it allows you to find new content – for example, I landed here, because you left a blind like on one of my posts…

    Have a fantastic day.

  19. I really think it depends on your intentions for blogging. Some people merely want to monetize their blog and therefore blind linking, creating more traffic is a way for them to do that. I think there’s nothing wrong with people who are passionate about blogging wanting more people to engage/ read/ like their stuff! And then there’s people like me who just really want to interact with others πŸ™‚

    Liked by 3 people

    1. Yeah, definitely. It depends why you blog and why are you here !..People who want monetization use these things as a tool to generate traffic..
Other people who write as a hobby, do not really care about these things…
However, people who want interactions on their own blog, are supposed to interact with other bloggers first…

  20. I decided to comment before I liked your post just to help prove that I actually did read your post! LOL!! I totally believe this is a really thing! I know it has to me when my WordPress blows up out of nowhere and I have the same person liking 10 of my post at the one time…did this person really read all 10 blog post… unlikely. I just read and LIKED another bloggers post about “following other blindly” as well to grow your own traffic on your blog. It happens for sure. As my tiny…very tiny blog grows, even I have notice how hard it’s become to keep up with all the blogs I have started to follow but truly I do my best to read every single one because we ALL work incredible hard on our writing. I know how much my blog means to me, I can’t be the only one that feels that way. Thanks for bring this LIKING BLINDLY to light!

    1. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚…Tricky!!!…..
      You seems so Tricky…..πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚…
The person liked 10 of your posts actually didn’t read them, but just to get your attention as you will receive 10 NOTIFICATIONS and definitely check out his blog….
It’s really really hard to read all the posts from the bloggers we follow. It’s almost impossible if we follow 200-300 bloggers. I really admire you respect the other bloggers’ work. This is really a great thing. πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘.
But I think it’s completely OKAY if we skip some posts and read only the posts related to our interests and circumstances or with attractive idea.
Okay, I give you my example.
I do follow I think 250+ bloggers, but I do not read all the posts. I think 15-20 bloggers I read with attention out of 250. And definitely comment on their posts. For other posts, I simply like them. And some posts I skip even without liking.
I think in my opinion, we should make a balance between these three things. We should read the posts what we like. We should also use Blind likes as a tool. (not too much). And do not overload ourselves with ALL THE POSTS. Plus you also want to increase traffic and interaction on your blog, so you have to give time to comment on other posts as well. So there must be a time for everything. Like If you have 2 hours for your blog, then give some time to reading, some to commenting, some to likes. That’s it. And don’t forget to give time to your own writings.
Thank you very much for your comment and reading this post. It really means a lot…πŸ€—πŸ€—πŸ€—πŸ˜˜πŸ˜˜.
      Thank you so much…

  21. I will admit that I am guilty of this at times but also there are times where I do read the post but don’t comment. Sometimes it’s hard to come up with comments. It’s honestly like making a blog post at times. I honestly don’t count engagement as likes anyways. I count it based on the conversations in the comments. I feel like I don’t get many blind likes which is good but I also don’t get the engagement I’m looking for. Thanks for sharing such an interesting concept. There are a lot of things that happen in the blogging world that piss me off and this happens to be one. I feel like you should try to address these issues.

    1. Yeah, bloggers do this. On every post, the comment is not possible for us because we need a reason for doing comments. I think conversations are based on how much we interact with other bloggers on their blogs. Because interaction puts an impact on the other person as we attract him/her.
Thank you so much for reading and commenting…❀❀😘
Yeah, definitely a lot of stuff is happening here and THIS THING I realized when I just started this blog….
Sure, I will post about some other issues we face in the blogosphere…
Thank you so much for the support..

  22. Well I did hit the like button. But I do agree about blind likes, it’s definitely used by many. At same time I guess it’s ok, but it not should not be used too frequently in my opinion.
    Thank You! πŸ™‚

    1. Yeah right.
      Just in limits……
Also should give time for reading others’ posts…

  23. I also realised there are two types of people on WordPress; the writers, those are the ones who mostly read other people’s articles and the bloggers, those are the blind likers who are after traffic.

      1. They go through your blog and blind like your articles and then follow you and you follow back and genuinely read their articles and will go on doing that, because, well you love reading.

      2. Hahah that is so true… Recently I’ve adopted new practices as they relate to following and liking… At this point the numbers mean nothing, it’s about genuineness and that seems to be hard to come by these days… It’s a ‘Me’ kind of world we are living in.

      3. Those of us who are abhoring the blind liking habit, I think we owe it to ourselves and to the writing and reading community to never adopt the habit however busy our lives become.

    1. I respect your opinion…
But I think there’s no excellent blogger or average or below average..
Everyone is best. Everyone is different from each other. We can’t say that you are the best blogger and he’s the runner up. Because everyone has his own style of writing. Blogging is a place where we can’t judge people and we shouldn’t be either…..
      Neither it depends on numbers….
For example, There’s a blog with more than 1 lac followers but it SUCKS. It sucks so much…
On the other side I found a blog with less than 200 followers and it’s way too interesting and informative as well…
      So it’s above the numbers…

      1. Umm. I agree but I was referring to informative blogs.
Like for me, usually the tech blogs where I need to learn a new concept. Reading multiple blogs is not an option when I am in a time constrained situation. There I have to make a choice.

  24. Sometimes I like posts but don’t comment because I don’t have anything valuable to add to the topic or their post! LOL. But sometimes I do the blind likes too. It’s not for attention though, I just think it’s normal? I haven’t read your post but I’m glad you’re posting kind of thing? Does that make sense?? LOL

    Liked by 2 people

    1. Yeah, definitely, it’s completely a normal thing. Everyone likes the posts for different different reasons. Some do as they are supporting the bloggers. Some because they don’t wanna miss the posts. Etc. Etc. As you can read the other comments here.. πŸ˜„.
By the way, I’m writing the second part of it right now to tell the results of this post.
Thank you soooo much for your comment. It really means a lot..

      1. I will wait for it… πŸ˜› I kinda felt guilty that I do this but I agree with you some just do it to get noticed. In the end those that do it with good intentions end up looking like they just want attention πŸ˜›

      2. You don’t need to feel guilty. Other bloggers also confessed that they also do. So it’s completely normal..
Yeah, just wait for 40-50 minutes, it is on the way… πŸ˜„πŸ˜„….
        Don’t be negative okay!!?? πŸ˜„πŸ˜„…
It’s the part of blogging ..
        😘😘❀.

  25. Not sure if I have ever done blind liking before. Haha. I usually use the “like” button to mark every blog posts I’ve read from my readers page to make sure I won’t miss any interesting posts of my favorite bloggers. I skip some posts that I felt uninteresting though. Hihi. But this is a great experiment! Hahaha. I can see blind likes now! πŸ˜‚

  26. Yes this concept exists. Even i face this on my Instagram account. People follow you and when you follow them they unfollow you. Like it is a game of getting more followers? It is crazy and it exists.

    Liked by 2 people

    1. Yeah, I experienced it on Instagram the same thing. People do this to get an impressive numbers on their accounts like…..Less Following, more Followers. I think it exists on every single social networking site…
What do you think it is good or bad??

      Liked by 1 person

      1. I feel like everyone has different views for some getting more followers is more important and for me the soul purpose to make the art account on IG was to help myself in expressing my feelings in form of art and also through motivational quotes or sayings me and my followers both get motivated to do better things in life. Art or anything you love to do should bring happiness and contentment. πŸ’š

      2. Yeah, you are absolutely right. It depends on our needs that what we want. Everyone has his own problems. For one, his website is everything for him and the only way to earn something from it. So he will put all his efforts to do this. And this would not bad for him that he liking the posts without actually reading them.

  27. Like your other commenters, I also leave blind likes. Once you follow more than a handful of bloggers, it’s hard to find the time to read them all, though I would like to…not enough hours in the day. And I read many posts without commenting, just leaving a like.

    1. Yeah.
It happens because of busy life.
We haven’t a whole day for wordpress, so it is not possible….
Everyone have different affairs, a lot of things to handle in 24 hours……
Yeah, we can give an hour or a little more to read the posts…….
Thank you so much for commenting….❀❀❀

      Have a beautiful day ❀❀ !

    1. No you do not need to as I disallowed it. Yes, you have some serious readers as everyone has. But sometimes, readers drop only a Like and not really reads them. It happens with everyone.
All I asked is that to give your opinion on the concept that It is good or bad ??….

      Like

      1. Yeah I’d never really thought of it as a problem before but if I really think about it it’s probably doing my work more bad than good

  28. You know, you’re so right. I am quite new on the blogosphere, and must confess l have some fav blogs that l will never neglect to read right through. But my circle is quite small and so it’s kinda easy. But l really enjoy likes, even blind ones. They have been supportive and encouraging, boosting my confidence as l took my first staggered steps. God bless all who liked my feeble attempts and me to go on. Keep them coming.

You showed the positive side of the Concept here… πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘.
Yeah when we get likes, even blind ones, they encourage us and keep to move on….
Thank you so much for your time and comment ❀❀😘😘.

  31. Have to confess that I will blind like sometimes but for the most part I will read and then decide to like or not and, if I really like something or it gets me thinking I’ll comment. Of course I’ll also comment if someone threatens to out me as a blind liker :O) x

  32. Ha ha I liked the concept I thought about doing a post like this too. But to be frank I too sometimes leaves blind likes on some people’s post. But I’ll surely check if the post have any inappropriate content before I like it though.
